Alternatives to Medicare ACOs: Hospital, Physician Integration Strategies - Tuesday, April 24, 2012 (CLE Requested)
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ regulations for accountable care organizations raised the specter of hospital and physician integration under health care reform, but it also left significant questions unanswered. This program will analyze the key strategic issues to consider when evaluating accountable care models. Faculty will address the many forms of integration, including non-Medicare ACOs and medical homes, to help participants determine which approach is the most effective for their organizations.
Upon completing the program, participants will be able to:
- discuss the pros and cons of Medicare ACO formation
- discuss the non-Medicare health care integration systems
- discuss the operational traps for billing and reimbursement in the various integrated strategies
- recognize the quality of care issues related to value-based purchasing and integration of the various models
For each of the different ACO models discussed, the following will be addressed.
- Case Study – Alternatives for Integrated Delivery Systems
- Compliance Opportunities and Risks
- ACO/medical homes/other
- Strategies for Managing Compliance Risks
- valuation/Stark/antikickback considerations
- operational/billing/coding considerations
- clinical/quality/reimbursement considerations
